The museum has three play areas - two indoor and one outdoor. All play areas are unique and built especially for the Danish Railway Museum.
The large outdoor play area features a giant wooden steam locomotive. Children can climb up the fifteen metre long steam locomotive, which has an instrument panel, firebox, combustion chamber and ash drawer. The play area also has an eight metre high water tower from which there are two slides.
The museum's indoor play area ‘children's railway station’ has a children's railway station, which is a child-sized railway station. Here our youngest visitors can pretend to be a train driver, sell tickets, travel to faraway places and much more. In ‘Locomotive Master Busse's workshop’, little ones can explore Busse's tools, try out his control panel, ride his model railway and much more.
